OMG: The Cubs-Mets Game Just Ended in the Most Amazingly Mets Way Ever (VIDEO)

Your Enhanced Box Score is forthcoming (UPDATE: here it is), but I couldn’t not share the play that ended tonight’s game, because Oh My God.

With Felix Pena on to gut out the last two innings of this one, the Mets were down to their final out. I’m not saying they were going to come back, but the had plated a run in the 9th, and had another runner on base when Phillip Evans dribbled one to the left of the plate.

Alex Avila couldn’t quite get himself set to make a play on the dribbler, but … wow:

What on earth are you doing, man?!?!? You can almost feel Avila’s laughter as he’s like, “Um, OK, I’ll just toss this to the plate and you’re out.”

Game over. Cubs win. Wow. I am still laughing.
