Wow. I’m not going to say this was as dramatic as yesterday’s game, but come on!
It’s September in a pennant race with the Cardinals, it’s the 8th inning in a two-run game, and Addison Russell returns from a month and a half on the disabled list for a pinch hit appearance … and he does this:

Yup, I’d say that foot is feeling pretty darn good right about now.
That was the first pinch hit homer of Russell’s career, and he absolutely destroyed that thing, too, at 437(!) feet.
It was especially nice to see the Cubs finish the game off from there, with Russell taking over at shortstop for a half inning. He may very well be ready for full-time duty again by sometime this coming week.
