That’s five wins in a row since the Cubs were swept by the Brewers last weekend, and two straight wins over the Cardinals, who are chasing both the Cubs and Brewers in the Central. The Cubs have now already claimed this series, and that is huuuuuuge.
I’ll admit up front that I wasn’t able to watch too much of this game thanks to the first birthday festivities for The Littlest Girl, but my read is that Kyle Hendricks was fantastic once again (really can’t wait to dive in on his performance), despite missing a lot of borderline calls.
Offensively, Albert Almora continues to absolutely rake, and Addison Russell returned to the Cubs with a pinch hit home run, because DRAMA.
It was good to see Wade Davis right back out there for a quick, clean (and dirty) save after his four-out stint yesterday. And it was good to see the Cubs test Russell with a half-inning back in the field.
There will be much more to say on this one soon, but I’ve gotta help The Wife clean up.
