Yesterday was as good as it gets in Scoreboard Watching land!
The Cubs took down the Cardinals once again, pushing them to 5.0 games back in the NL Central. Not only that, but the Brewers also lost, unable to beat the Marlins on the road in Milwaukee. That pushes them to 4.0 games back of the Cubs.
And it shrunk the Cubs’ magic number by two!
(By the way, our memories are not wrong – Mark Grudzielanek really was solid for the Cubs in both his seasons with the team in 2003 and 2004, posting slightly above average offensive and defensive numbers both years. Dude had a pretty nice career overall.)
With a Rockies win, the losses by the Cardinals and Brewers also bumped them to 3.5 and 4.5 games back, respectively, in the Wild Card race.
