As hoped and expected, Jake Arrieta has officially been announced as tomorrow’s starter for the Cubs when they head to Milwaukee to open up a critical four-game series against the Brewers.
Arrieta, out since September 4 with a mild hamstring strain, will be in position to make three starts before the postseason begins. He returns to a 3.48 ERA and 4.00 FIP over 160.1 innings, but he’s been at 2.72 and 3.88 since May 21, which was also the last time he faced the Brewers.
After Arrieta, the Cubs will go with John Lackey, Kyle Hendricks, and Jose Quintana (Sharma). The Brewers will counter, in order, with Zach Davies, Brandon Woodruff, Brent Suter, and Chase Anderson.
