The Cubs beat the Cardinals tonight 5-1 after putting up a five spot in the 7th inning, and getting a great start from John Lackey.
…
Heh. It always seems weird to do a post-game write-up-type-thing after a game like that, because what we’re all thinking about IS THE CLINCH! With their win, the Cubs clinched their second consecutive NL Central title, and third straight postseason appearance:

But that really was a fun game, with the Cubs held completely down by Michael Wacha for six innings, while John Lackey also put on a clinic. And then, at the flip of a switch, the Cubs’ bats exploded on Wacha in the 7th, with Addison Russell’s three-run homer the big blow.
We can talk more about this game, in particular, tomorrow morning when we’re not drenched in champagne.
