Well, here we are: the final game of the regular season.
And although it was a bumpy road, the Cubs wound up with yet another 90-win season, an NL Central title, and, most importantly, a shot at defending their World Series Championship. But, damn, it sure wasn’t easy. There were a litany of injuries, more than the desirable number of off-field distractions (where’s Miguel Montero?), and plenty of doubts throughout (the Cubs were below .500 at the All-Star break for Pete’s sake).
But again, can you complain?
At the end of the day, the Cubs did what needed to be done … and they also picked up a young cost-controlled starting pitcher along the way. In that respect, this season was pretty much perfect. Shrug.
Let’s get through this game healthy and I’ll see you all in the postseason.
