Bryce Harper and his good friend Kris Bryant have several times winked at the possibility of Harper coming to the Chicago Cubs after the 2018 season, when he will be a 26-year-old free agent. Yes, please.
The reality is that money will do a lot of the talking, and it’s not a guarantee the Cubs will play in that stratosphere when the time comes (of course, I’d argue that you only get so many chances to get a generational superstar signed at age 26, so you figure out a way to get into that mix no matter what).
In any case, that’s a conversation for another day (basically the second the Cubs’ season ends … ), though Harper just couldn’t help but tease us a little more after the Nats’ NLDS win last night.
Here’s what Harper put in his Instagram story (h/t @vnaylor23):
Hey, “next time” will actually be when he’s still with the Nationals, and lots of players really enjoy playing at Wrigley Field. So this doesn’t *mean* anything.
But it is nice to see him mentioning again that he’s a fan of Wrigley Field. Which is where the Chicago Cubs play their home games. So he could play there a lot more if he became a Cub. See how I connected those dots for you?
