I’m not forcing it to say the following: that was a good season.
However it ends, the season provides only one fanbase the ultimate joy (the Cubs won the World Series last year – remember that? it was neat). For the rest of us, we’re left to take a few days to stew about whatever went wrong, and then regroup for the offseason and beyond.
So, over the next few days, we’ll do that. For today, though, I can already feel good about the experience of the 2017 Cubs season. The first half was a total slog, but that wound up paying off in a fantastic second half that felt all the more enjoyable by comparison. For the third straight season, the Cubs reached the NLCS, and we got to watch Cubs baseball well into October. That’s always a win.
It was a very late night for me or I’d probably be more eloquent here, but I wanted to say thanks. Thank you all so much for reading, commenting, screaming, cheering, and generally living a small part of your Cubs fan experience here at BN.
On to the offseason, which is always fun in its own way …
