Cardinals and Cubs Competing Over Jim Hickey? Cardinals Might Hire Chris Bosio?

Big league coach hiring processes aren’t always the sexiest storylines, but when it involves the pitching coach position on two of the league’s most high-profile teams, and they just happen to be big-time rivals, it’s a little more compelling.

Enter the Cubs and Cardinals:

The Cardinals were reportedly connected to Jim Hickey, the former Rays pitching coach, before the Cubs even had an opening at the position. Hickey is interviewing with the Cubs today to replace outgoing pitching coach Chris Bosio, who, as noted, is apparently one of three finalists for the Cardinals.

Each gig is an attractive one, though, given the past connection to Joe Maddon and the fact that no other serious candidates have been connected yet to a Cubs interview, you’d have to call Hickey the current front-runner for the Cubs job.

Wake Up and Watch the Cubs Win an Extra-Innings Thriller in Arizona
