Reigning MVPs aren’t traded too often, and when that trade is a pure salary dump by a new ownership group that kinda-sorta-can’t-actually-afford-the-team, there will be no heartwarming response or love lost from a fan base that has already suffered through dodgy ownership for years.
That said, Giancarlo Stanton is here to thank those fans, and also to remind them that it was the past ownership group and baseball operations that sent things sideways:

I do hope the new ownership group turns around the culture in Miami (the early steps have not been encouraging, though), because the fans down there have to be despondent right about now.
As for Stanton, well, I can’t say I’m not eager to see him part of a killer lineup on the biggest stage. It’s good for baseball, and it’ll be fun to follow – even if it turns the Yankees back into the Evil Empire.
