Chicago Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein met with the media this evening in Orlando, and shared some thoughts on the ill-fated Shohei Ohtani pursuit, the value of Kyle Schwarber, and the Giancarlo Stanton trade saga, among other things.
Epstein on if there were talks with Marlins about Stanton: There wasn't much interaction given the makeup of our roster, our future payroll commitments and some plans that we have. Great player and great opportunity, but not necessarily the right one for us at the time.
