Who knows what week it is …? It’s tons of hot stove activity CUBS CONVENTION WEEK!!!! Woo!
Annually, one of the best weekends of the year, the Cubs Convention is happening this Friday, January 12 through Sunday, January 14th at the Sheraton Grand Chicago hotel. Brett, Luis, and I will all be there (together for the third straight year, I believe), so if you’re going and see us, give us a holler! (Lizzie McNeill’s, next to the hotel, would be a good bet to find us on Friday night.)
Before we get into some of the specific details, here’s a little pump-up video from the Cubs, including many of the names expected to be in attendance:

Carlos Zambrano and Derek Lee are not usually in town for the convention, so you’ll excuse me for being particularly excited and affectionate to shed some love on the last great era of Cubs teams.
As for those details (or deets as the kids call ’em), here they are from the Cubs:
The three-day weekend kicks off with the Opening Ceremony beginning Friday, January 12, at 6 p.m. Following the Opening Ceremony, guests will find some of their favorite Cubs alumni and future stars waiting to sign surprise autographs. The event’s first day concludes with the wildly entertaining Friday Night with Ryan Dempster, presented by Budweiser, featuring interviews with Cubs players, coaches and alumni and comedy vignettes
Saturday’s program continues with fan favorites such as the return of Cubs Jeopardy, which features unique trivia with Cubs alumni. Popular reoccurring Saturday sessions will be back, including Baseball Operations Update, Business Operations Update, Joe Maddon & His Coaching Staff, Kids Only Press Conference presented by Advocate Children’s Hospital, Ricketts Family, In the Batter’s Box presented by Wintrust and Toeing the Rubber presented by Wintrust. The evening will conclude with long-time Convention favorite Cubs Bingo presented by Budweiser and led by Wayne Messmer.
The weekend will conclude Sunday, January 14, with additional autograph sessions and panels. Please continue to visit this page for the most up-to-date information.
