Today, Bovada released its opening over/under win projections for the 2018 season, and the National League Central – like so many other division races – projects to be a blowout:

I don’t think I’d take the over on any of those five teams at the top – even for a “super” team, it’s hard to win more than 95 games in a given season. Injuries happen, surprising disappointments happen, other teams surprisingly pop up.
But the spread there in the NL Central is still notable, with the Cardinals nearly 10 games behind the Cubs. They do project to be a winning team, together with the Brewers, so at least the NL Central has that going for it. Contrast with the NL East, which projects to have one – ONE – winning team. And it’s not an outlandish projection, given that’s what happened last year.
In all, the divisional races outside of the AL East project to be total stinkers. Hopefully for the sport that doesn’t actually happen (though I can say after last year, I’ll take the Cubs running away with the NL Central early, thankyouverymuch).
Give me the over on the Rockies, Brewers, and Braves. Give me the under on the Indians, Rays, and Pirates.
