Kyle Schwarber was showing off his agility today, and that’ll hopefully translate to more quickness in the outfield this season. He tells Carrie Muskat that while he may work out with the catchers a couple times this spring, it’s only because he’s the emergency guy (confirming what he hinted at earlier in the week). Schwarber will be focusing on left field. Given how things have played out, it’s the right move, and I hope the improved athleticism and sole focus on left field can improve his defense out there.

Tommy La Stella gives some insight into his friend Jake Arrieta’s attitude this offseason: “He’s a great competitor and a great player, so it’s going to be tough to imagine him falling into a situation that doesn’t line up.” @PJ_Mooney: https://t.co/RkjpemJE8p

Lester was going to send John Lackey a picture of an empty elliptical that he would use next to Lester as they both worked out in the morning but thought better of it…fig might not be nice since Lackey wants to keep playing
