Over the past week or so, Kris Bryant has been absent from the Cubs lineup as he battled some sort of illness, probably not unlike the one Yu Darvish was fending off yesterday as well.
But hey, at long last, your Spring Training nightmare is over. He’s back in there at third base today:
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Addison Russell, SS
- Kyle Schwarber, DH
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
- Victor Caratini, C
- Peter Bourjos, LF
Beyond Bryant, there’s a fair amount of regulars in this one, including Albert Almora and Kyle Schwarber, both of whom are leadoff candidates not leading off today, in the outfield. In fact, I believe this is the first time someone other than Ian Happ or Almora has led off all Spring.
We’ll get into more specifics about the rest of the lineup later today in the Pre-Gamin’ post, but I wanted to get this in front of you first to share the good news.
Bryant is back and returns to a 1.000/1.000/1.000 slash line (wow! MVP, MVP, MVP).
