You know what I love about baseball? They play almost every day. I love that.
Today, Kyle Hendricks is getting his second start of the Spring, following up a solid 2.0 inning, no walk, three strikeout performance his first time out. And although we won’t be able to watch today’s game, I’ll definitely be listening/checking in afterwords to see if he threw a few extra curveballs with that new grip.
The lineup is full of regulars again today, including Ian Happ returning to the leadoff role yet again. As always, I know it’s just Spring Training and other guys are in consideration, but it’s sure looking likely that Happ draws a lot of those starts near the beginning of the year (especially as Ben Zobrist continues to heal up/take on more of a complimentary role).
Following Happ is Bryzzo at their usual spots, and Addison Russell taking some swings without taking the field. Kyle Schwarber’s in left, Victor Caratini is behind the plate and Tommy La Stella is at second base, hopefully with a Cubs jersey on.
We’re getting closer and closer to the regular season! And there’s baseball every day – ’tis the season.
