Initial Vegas Odds Have Kris Bryant Behind Only Bryce Harper as the 2018 NL MVP Favorite

Chicago Cubs

The odds are out from Bovada on the MVP races, the Cy Young races, and the MLB home run leader. I always find these things fun, even if you aren’t the betting type. And if you are, well, find yourself some bargains and get after it.

In the NL MVP race, Kris Bryant comes in just behind fellow Las Vegas native Bryce Harper, who is the favorite at 3/1. Bryant is at 4/1. Interestingly, though, he’s all the way down at 30/1 to lead MLB in homers, behind 10 other players. Yes, Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge are the favorites by a mile.

Other Cubs on the MVP list: Anthony Rizzo at 18/1, Kyle Schwarber at 100/1. I think you could definitely make an argument for Willson Contreras also being a plausible candidate, and I suppose several other Cubs could be in there if they had a huge breakout season.

In the Cy Young race, Yu Darvish tops the Cubs at 20/1 (behind, in reverse order, Carlos Martinez, Stephen Strasburg, Madison Bumgarner, Noah Syndergaard, Max Scherzer, and Clayton Kershaw). Jon Lester comes in at 30/1, Jose Quintana is 35/1, and Kyle Hendricks is 60/1.
