Ian Happ is more or less the Cubs’ leadoff hitter at this point, and he celebrated that not-quite-an-official designation yesterday by leading off the game with yet another spring dinger.

The homer was Happ’s 6th of the spring, and his 4th leadoff homer. He continues to shred the Cactus League to the tune of a .341/.431/.864 slash line, trailing only Dan Vogelbach in spring OPS.
Meanwhile, in left field, Kyle Schwarber – himself with a top five OPS in the spring – continues to show off what might be an improvement in his quickness and range this season, thanks to a leaner body.
Which is not to say there’s not still some rumblin’-bumblin’-stumblin’ in the Cubs’ large adult son:

He got there and got the job done, but as he develops out there, you’d probably like to see a little quicker break, and then a little more athleticism on the landing. That looked like it was perilously close to hurting.
