Some wild escapades out in Colorado to while away the hours as you await tonight’s Cubs-Pirates game.
Apparently there was some bad blood between the Padres and Rockies going back to earlier games in the series, so when Padres righty Luis Perdomo unleashed an extremely wild one behind Nolan Arenado’s back, the Rockies’ third baseman took immediate exception:

Lotta whiffing there, from the Perdomo glove throw to the Arenado haymaker. If that punch had landed, oh man, that would have done some damage. So I guess it’s good that Perdomo ducked.

For those who don’t do the Twitters, yes, the name there is a joke.
In all seriousness, it remains a particularly frustrating thing for me that throwing at batters – whatever the reason – is institutionalized as just part of the game. Perdomo may have had reasons for doing it, but there should just be a hard line: we don’t do it. It’s too dangerous. The end.
(Kris Bryant would have connected, by the way, and he doesn’t even have the thinner air of Denver to help his arm. Just sayin’.)
