A day after homering twice in the Cubs’ loss against the Pirates – his first two homer game since his first week as a big leaguer – Javy Baez did it again in tonight’s win over the Pirates. He also got engaged today, so it’s been a pretty great 48 hours.
Baez’s first blast today was a rocket three-run shot, which gave the Cubs the lead:

That pitch was not where Steven Brault wanted it, but I especially appreciated how Baez just sent it back where it was coming into the zone. 434 feet later, we smiled, and the bullpen danced:

That shot was *only* 424 feet, so clearly Baez had worn down a little bit. I kid. Baez earned himself a curtain call with that second one:
