Okay, can we play some baseball now? Thanks.
In his last start, Tyler Chatwood managed to strike out seven batters and walk just one over five innings, but was lit up on the board for nine hits and five earned runs.
WITH THAT SAID, he was’t getting hit hard at all (17.7% hard-hit rate) and he kept it on the ground (47.1%) – so it’s hard to know what exactly was going on. I was at that game, and it was hard to tell from the stands, but Chatwood sure looked like he simply ran into a lot of bad luck. Hopefully, with some extra rest, he can prove that this evening.
Starting opposite Chatwood is Adam Wainwright. By now, Cubs fans are familiar with Wainwright, whom they’ve seen a lot of in recent years, though it’s worth pointing out that he has pretty strong lefty/righty splits. Perhaps that’ll provide the perfect soft-landing for Anthony Rizzo in his return to the lineup.
Apologies for the relatively abbreviated Pre-Gamin’ today, but I’ve got one foot out the door on my way to visit my brand new nephew for the first time! Peace. Go Cubs.
