The Cubs came out swinging today against Luke Weaver, knocking him out early on the strength of hit after hit after hit (most of them the other way, which was fun). He’d given up six runs by the time he departed.
And then Jason Heyward was there to greet Cardinals reliever Matt Bowman with a huge blast:

I love when the pitcher reacts like that. That shot was 111 mph off the bat and 423 feet. Wow. You don’t see Heyward hitting too many like that.

He also singled, and had a 99 mph, 334 foot fly out earlier in the game, so he’s seeing the ball well today. His homer put the Cubs up 8-1 in the 5th.
