Cubs utility prospect David Bote is making his big league debut tonight, having been called up to replace Ben Zobrist, who went on the DL. And it’s a pretty special debut at that, given that Bote is from Colorado, where much of his friends and family still reside.
So when he came to the plate for the first time tonight, there were plenty in attendance to cheer him on when he did this:

What a moment. Special for him, special for them. And that was a rope, too, the other way. Love seeing that.
We’ll just pretend the thing that happened next – him getting thrown out trying to steal third to end the inning as Yu Darvish struck out – didn’t happen.
