After winning the first two games of the series, the Chicago Cubs have a chance to lock in a series win against the Brewers later this afternoon.
And guess what, he’s back.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:Â
- Albert Almora, CF
- Javy Baez, SS
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Willson Contreras, C
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Jose Quintana, P
It took him nearly a week to return from being beaned in the head with a 96 MPH fastball last Sunday, but Kris Bryant has finally returned to the Chicago Cubs lineup … and just in time. If he can help the Cubs win today, he can help them start the year off with two four-game series wins over the Brewers – that’s huge.
Also returning to the lineup is Ben Zobrist, whose return will require a roster move (but we’ll get into both of these decisions soon this after this post).
As for the rest of the lineup, the Cubs are rolling with their standard against reverse-split-righties lineup, which is apparently a necessary configuration given that it’s happening, like, every other day.
Junior Guerra Splits:
Versus Righties: .310 wOBA
Versus Lefties: .296 wOBA
Those splits are even more pronounced this season, though he hasn’t been through more than three starts yet (so there’s probably a lot of noise).
Oh, and with Ben Zobrist returning to the lineup at second, Addison Russell has been given the day off at short, as Javy Baez moves over and fills in. Albert Almora continues to be your Cubs leadoff hitter, and he’s working on a ten-game hit streak (as is Baez).
We’ll update you on the roster moves ASAP, and, as usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (1:20 CT)
