Cubs Get the Brewers Again on the Field and on Twitter

I’m not big on punching down, especially when you’re already dominating another club on the field, but when that other club spent the offseason taking swings … it’s all fair game.

And so it’s been this weekend for the Cubs on Twitter, where the Brewers made shots at the Cubs something of an offseason rallying cry. But the tables turned – aggressively – this weekend, as the Cubs swept the Brewers in four, and the Cubs disintegrated the Brewers.

First, it was the Brewers trying to take a shot at the perceptiveness of Cubs fans, about which the Cubs correctly noted the importance of actually having fans in attendance. Then the Cubs had some more fun today:

Ouch. That Cactus League title banner will fly forever, though.

It’s been a brilliant month for the Cubs against the Brewers off of Twitter, too:

The clubs met eight times this month, and the Cubs won seven of those games. Even if the Brewers win eight of their remaining eleven games against the Cubs this season, the Cubs will still win the season series.
