Chicago Cubs

Boy, that had to be as frustrating of a series for the Brewers as it was satisfying for the Cubs. Every game was close, every game was low-scoring, and every game could have gone the other way if the Brewers’ bats hadn’t been entirely lifeless.

Tyler Chatwood (and Carl Edwards and Brandon Morrow, naturally) was the one doing the damage today, holding the Brewers to just two hits in his scoreless performance. There weren’t as many jams to get out of as usual in his starts, but the ones that materialized, he got out of. It was another quality start for the Cubs, and the latest in a great series.

In fact, Cubs starting pitchers did not allow a single earned run in this entire serious. Ouch, Brewers. Ouch.

It was a good day at the plate for Addison Russell (at last), who singled, tripled, and knocked in a run with a solid sac fly. Willson Contreras had a couple hits, and Chatwood drove in a run with a single of his own, but otherwise, it was a pretty forgettable day at the plate for the Cubs.

No matter, though, because the pitching once again carried the day, and that’s a FOUR-GAME sweep!
