The Chicago Cubs winning streak was broken last night, but that’s okay, because now today has a chance to be amazing in two ways: the Cubs can win their series against the Rockies and start their next winning streak all at once.
Here’s how they’ll line up.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Albert Almora, CF
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Willson Contreras, C
- Ben Zobrist, LF
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Yu Darvish, P
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably a little upset to see Kyle Schwarber (and his 159 wRC+) out of the lineup today, even if you were expecting it with a lefty on the mound. HOWEVA, I’d like to point out that this lefty, Tyler Anderson, carries some fairly significant splits for his career. Check it out.
Versus Lefties: .295 woBA
Versus Righties: .343 wOBA
So if it helps, don’t think about today as getting Schwarber out of the lineup, as much as getting Ben Zobrist in.
And to that end ….. *drum roll* …. *&* FIRE WORKS *&* …. ellipsis … #ALMAGO is back! After getting the day off yesterday, Albert Almora and Javy Baez are back at the top of the Cubs lineup, and will look to use significant lefty/righty splits of their own to spark the Cubs offense back to life. And I really think they’re going to do it (but more on that in a bit).
Elsewhere, Willson Contreras moves back in behind the plate and the Greatest Leadoff Hitter of All Time, Anthony Rizzo, retires from his post atop the Cubs’ lineup once again, settling into a more familiar clean-up spot.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (1:20).
