We’ve got ourselves a rubber match!
Later this afternoon, Yu Darvish will take the mound at Wrigley Field and try to deliver a series victory to the Chicago Cubs. Unfortunately, his last game against the Rockies was just two starts ago, and he allowed five earned runs in that one, while walking four batters over just 4.2 innings pitched.
Fortunately, he looked a whole lot better against the Brewers his last time out (6.0 IP, 3H, 0ER, 2BB, 8Ks) and I’m guessing he’ll be closer to that level this time around too. Of course, even if he isn’t on his A-game, we all know the Cubs offense is totally going to blow up today … right?
Indeed, the last time the Cubs faced today’s Rockies’ starter, Tyler Anderson, was back on April 21 and while he kept them mostly at bay (6.0 IP, 2ER), he did give up six hits and two walks over six innings. And of course, his splits indicate a feast for the righties in the lineup, so I’m expecting big things from Javy Baez and Albert Almora in particular.
Win this game, win the series. Let’s go.
