Can’t win ’em all, even against terrible teams. A 5-1 homestand against the Marlins and White Sox is a good outcome. Don’t be bummed because the loss happened to come at the end. (Does tomorrow’s one-day makeup count as part of this homestand?)
Thanks to family and Mother’s Day stuff, I was able to follow this one only tangentially today, so I’ll have more perspective when I can go back and watch a bit. For now, as I understand it, Kyle Hendricks (and the defense and baserunning) wasn’t as sharp as you’d want him to be, especially against a brutally bad lineup.
The Cubs still had opportunities to score more than the three they plated, what with seven walks on the day – but with only three hits, there wasn’t much doing.
Brian Duensing allowed his first earned run of the season, so I guess his Cy Young candidacy comes to an end.
