Ian Happ Just Homered in Both Halves of the Doubleheader (VIDEO)
Although it came in vain in a game I’ve already forgotten and will pretend forever never existed, Ian Happ homered earlier today (and came up only a single short of the cycle) against the Reds.
That, alone, would be pretty cool, given that he played his college ball in Cincinnati, and probably had some friends around for the game.
But then he up and did it again tonight in the second half of the doubleheader:

With that homer, Happ joined some VERY exclusive company:
Ian Happ is first #Cubs player to homer in both games of a doubleheader since Chris Coghlan 7/8/2014 also vs Reds

Yes. That’s right. THE Chris Coghlan. You think I’m being sarcastic, but I’m not. Dude was really good with the Cubs!
Also: that was the 14,000th homer in Cubs franchise history. So that’s cool.
Also: Happ is now hitting .264/.352/.527 on the season, good for a 133 wRC+. That’s right, Happ has – as of this moment – been 33% better than league average at the plate. How did that happen?!?!
