Although Kyle Schwarber’s laser homer and later ejection got most of the Schwarber-related attention yesterday, I’m not so sure either was the most energizing thing about his game.
Instead, I probably got the most hyped by his picture-perfect bunt for a hit after his homer:

You couldn’t roll it out there better. With the massive shift on for Schwarber – who has grounded the ball the other way more often this year than last year, by the way – it just makes so much sense to burn teams with this when you can. That’s especially true leading off an inning, and also now that Schwarber runs a little better. Perhaps it will have the effect of not only netting him some free hits, but also getting the third baseman to play a little further over and open up the middle more.
