Remember how I said after last night’s blowout that games like that are – emotionally speaking – relatively easy to take? Well, this is the flip side of that.
Facing a young guy who hasn’t faced a whole lot of big league lineups before, the Cubs were reduced to hoping for a hit in the later innings of this one. And when they finally did get a couple hits, they seemed to be hamstrung by some questionable decisions that I’ll enjoy exploring more when I’m less frustrated.
Jon Lester was great tonight, and the Cubs’ bullpen held things to just one run for the Indians. But that was enough to win this one, and, again, I have some bones to pick about which I’m gonna see how I feel in the morning. Suffice it to say I was – at least in the moment – pretty darn surprised at the decisions being made in this 1-0 game.
Cubs lose. Moving on.
