I could really get used to this.
On Wednesday the Cubs’ farm system combined to allow just one run in thirty one total innings. Last night they topped that. Last night they allowed one run in thirty six innings.
The lone run was given up by Iowa who went on to win their game anway.
Tennessee and South Bend both tossed five hit shutouts. And Myrtle Beach’s pitching put on a sparkling one hit performance on the road.
Moreover, there were some notable prospects involved in all this. Alec Mills was on the mound for Iowa. Tennessee’s shutout featured both Oscar De La Cruz and Jake Stinnett. Keegan Thompson starred for the Pelicans, and Erich Ulemen was on the mound for South Bend. That is a lot of pitching promise all delivering on the same night. That’s good to see.
And seeing days like this twice inside of a week? That’s fantastic. Hopefully we’ll see more days like this as the Cubs continue to improve their pitching development and the army of pitching prospects continue to develop.
