Oh My Word: Kyle Schwarber Just CLEARED the Batter’s Eye with a Monster Shot (VIDEO)

Chicago Cubs

Today has become all about home run highlights, eh? And I am extremely fine with that. Just keep dinging them dongs and I will be all over it. I should probably re-phrase that, but I’m too excited to stop now.

The latest dinger comes courtesy of a guy who could have sent this one out into the teeth of a howling wind, rather than taking advantage of the wind blowing out. Kyle Schwarber just destroyed this ball:

The official measurement on that is 422 feet, which … no, baby. No way. That thing CLEARED the batter’s eye in center field, which is almost impossible to do. Sure, Wrigley is only 400 feet out to center field, but it’s got a high wall, there’s depth in the batter’s eye, and then you’ve got to hit it even higher than that to land on the roof.

Conservatively, I’m going with 850 feet.

That homer was 16th of the year, and he’s got a very good shot at going into the break with 20 in the bag. His line is up to .239/.370/.487 with a 127 wRC+ on the year, which means he’s been about 27% better than league average at the plate. Have a year, my man.
