The good news is that the Cubs are piling up the hits today, including three from hit-machine Albert Almora.
The bad news is that the game is currently tied at nine, despite the Cubs going off. The scary news is that Almora had to depart the game early after his final single on the day.
Almora initial stayed in after the hit, following a check-in from the trainer and Joe Maddon, but thereafter was pulled for pinch-runner Mike Montgomery following Jason Heyward’s single. The hope is that it was just a matter of cramping on a very, very hot and humid day with lots of running.
Hopefully we’ll soon hear that’s exactly what it was and there’s absolutely no reason for concern. Because the last thing you want right now is for the Cubs to lose Almora to the disabled list. Dude is quite obviously hitting his stride.
UPDATE: Good news, as it was indeed cramping for Almora, according to Joe Maddon (Rogers).
