In a game that will largely defined by the deluge of hits, there was at least one hit taken away that bears noting, not only because it prevented things from getting thorny when the Cubs were trying to walk away with it, but also because it was Javy Baez. And Javy is always fun.
In the 8th inning, with the Cubs having pulled ahead by five, the Twins started threatening again, and looked to have three hits to start the inning.
But Javy Baez said ‘yoink’ to the last of the three:
Head is spinning thinking 'bout Báez. pic.twitter.com/7Xp3znOIhb

That thing just had trouble written all over it, but Baez ranged tremendously to his right, and then made a fantastic grab. If that ball drops, the tying run is suddenly on deck, and there’s nobody out. Given the way the rest of the day went all crazy, who knows what might have happened?
The reactions of Eduardo Escobar and Anthony Bass really said it all. El Mago.
