It’s a mini sweep!
For the SIXTH game in a row, the Chicago Cubs trailed early and yet came back to win the game. The deficits haven’t always been huge (today, for example, it was just a run), but they have been consistent. And the bats have never wavered.
Kudos to the pitching, too, as Jose Quintana had a very good day, and the bullpen (and defense) held serve from there.
Offensively, the Cubs got solo shots from David Bote (the first of his career) and Willson Contreras, and Contreras later added a two-run double.
But the biggest, most thrilling run of the day came thanks to Javy Baez doing more of what he so impossibly does. This time, scampering around the bases, taking three bases, and pulling off the best slide of his career at home.
Happy Fourth of July, indeed!
