After Javy Baez got a single off of Chris Sale in his first at bat of the night on the first pitch, Willson Contreras did him one better, homering of the first pitch he saw from Blake Snell.
It was a rocket:

That was 108.8 mph off the bat for Contreras, who was all over Snell’s first offering. That’s a good strategy in these kinds of events. Ambush ’em.
A couple years ago, Kris Bryant homered on the first pitch he saw in the All-Star Game. And then he won MVP and the Cubs won the World Series. So, that’s pretty much locked up for Contreras and the Cubs.
