Although Kyle Hendricks struggled through 4.2 innings, and there’s still a ways to go in the game, you always felt like the Cubs’ bats had a chance to come back from their early 3-1 deficit. It’s just what they’ve been doing lately.
And, sure enough, bop bop bop bop bop later, and the Cubs had taken a 4-3 lead. That alone would have made for a very satisfying 5th inning.

That was Happ’s 12th homer on the year, and he’s hitting a very healthy .257/.378/.464 (124 wRC+). Young man has been fantastic.
