The Chicago Cubs went down early this afternoon, when Matt Carpenter and the Cardinals poured on 5 runs before the second inning was over.
But they’ve dug themselves out of a million holes this season, including, most recently, yesterday against these very Cardinals …
You guys didn't foget that the Cubs only like winning after coming back right?

… And they’ll try to do it again today, starting with this monster blast from Cubs catcher and 2018 NL All-Star Willson Contreras:
WILLLLLSONNNN Contreras cuts into the Cardinals lead, following up his All-Star performance with a solo shot to left.

Contreras homered in the first Major League at-bat of his career, his first at-bat of his first All-Star game, and now in the first at-bat after the break. It was only his eighth home run of the season, but it brought his season slash line up to .281/.371/.461 (125 wRC+) which is absolutely brilliant for any catcher, let alone one as talented behind the plate as Contreras.
The Cubs still have a deficit to overcome, but they’ve done it before. Maybe it’s starts right here.
