Enhanced Box Score: Cardinals 5, Cubs 2 – July 27, 2018
Well, not unlike yesterday, the starting pitching put the Cubs in a big hole. And also not unlike yesterday, the Cubs hit some homers!
… but the rest was pretty much not like yesterday.
Mike Montgomery wasn’t wild like Tyler Chatwood, but he did give up a ton of hits, and the Cubs were way behind the 8-ball by the time he departed after just five innings. And this time around, the Cubs couldn’t come back.
Alec Mills made his Cubs debut with a couple scoreless innings, so that was presumably a very nice experience for him. Dingers by Anthony Rizzo and Javy Baez were also nice, in isolation.
But that’s a Friday night loss. I hope you still had a fun evening …
