Javy Baez has already hit a homer (tying his career single-season high) and thrown a guy out at the plate today, but enough’s never enough for this kid.
So when he plopped a ball into the right field corner to lead off the eighth inning, he didn’t stop at second base with an easy stand-up double. Instead, he kept on trucking through to third and slid in safely for his seventh triple of the season … even though the ball beat him by about the distance between Wrigley Field and, say, the Moon:

I’d say that’s unbelievable, but what else do you expect from a magician? After adding his two extra-base hits (and a walk) today, Javy’s slash line is up to a mean .299/.333/.580 (137 wRC+).
