The Cubs had one game rained out and two more suspended due to weather yesterday. Factor in the two off-days, and that means we have just two games to talk about. Fortunately, Tennessee won one of them.
Even better, both games featured some very good pitching performances. Matt Swarmer and Jeffrey Passantino were both excellent in their starting roles, and with the exception of the very, very late innings for South Bend, the bullpens were about as good. Given the importance of pitching in the rebuilding Cubs’ farm system, that is good to see.
Triple A: Iowa Cubs
Iowa had the day off.
Double A: Tennessee Smokies
Tennessee 6, Biloxi 1
Smokies pitching did not allow a run after the first inning.
High A: Myrtle Beach Pelicans
The Pelicans were rained out.
Low A: South Bend Cubs
Great Lakes 11, South Bend 5 in eleven innings
The Cubs led by five going into the ninth, and then things completely fell apart.
Short Season A: Eugene Emeralds
Eugene is on their All-Star break.
Rookie: AZL Cubs 1
This game was suspended due to rain.

This game was suspended due to rain.
