Well, even without the desperate need to refresh the bullpen, the Cubs are going to make a move in any case today:
Cubs reports at 10 and 1 CT today on Espn 1000. Cubs are sending Randy Rosario down. Not sure who’s up but will know soon enough. Tune in at 10!

Rosario, despite some OK results, has really struggled this year, especially lately – lots of walks, lots of hard contact, no strikeouts, etc. There’s still time for him to come along, but right now, he’s a lefty that isn’t even effective at getting out lefties. I’m fine with swapping him out for another reliever, even if it isn’t about getting a “fresh arm.”
To that end, it makes you wonder if Anthony Bass, who has been rehabbing, is ready to return? Or perhaps someone like James Norwood is going to come back? (Dillon Maples pitched last night for Iowa, so it’s not likely him. Ditto Luke Farrell and Dakota Mekkes.)
We’ll see soon enough.
UPDATE: The Cubs went outside the box – er, well, outside the org – to pick up a new reliever, Jorge De La Rosa.
