The Cubs have a big game on tap today and a big series this week. They’re also turning to the two pitchers, Jose Quintana (today) and Kyle Hendricks (tomorrow) who’ve had the most roller coaster turns this season. Here’s to hoping their both on top of their game today.
Speaking of which, Quintana’s last start was an interesting one. Although he allowed 5 earned runs in his 6.1 IP, he had gotten through six innings having allowed just 2 earned runs when Joe Maddon sent him back out for the sixth. Had he simply been removed from the game, we would’ve been looking back at that start very differently. If he gets that far today, I expect Maddon to pull him quicker than usual, to get a “good one” under his belt.
Jhoulys Chacin is starting for the Brewers today, and he’s coming off a solid, if unspectacular 6.0 IP, 3ER, 6H, 1BB, 3K start against the Brewers, which, itself, followed a meltdown in Los Angeles: 4.1 IP, 5H, 8ER, 4BB, 3Ks. I’m not going to say he’s beatable, because whenever we say that it’s like instant-six-scoreless-innnings, but … c’mon.
Let’s go Cubs.
