With all that’s been going on today, I almost completely forgot to do this Pre-Gamin’ post. I mean, seriously, this was all after 2:00 CT:
The offices of @BleacherNation, if we had them, would be nuts today. In the last 2.5 hours alone, we've seen …
Addison Russell scratched
Yu Darvish's season is over
Kris Bryant taking BP
Cubs get Daniel Murphy
Dodgers Claim Bryce Harper
Cardinals Get Matt Adams— Michael Cerami (@Michael_Cerami) August 21, 2018
But here we are, with just enough time to spare before the game.
Kyle Hendricks is starting for the Cubs tonight and he’s been much better here lately than I think many of us realized. Here’s a snippet of something from that post:
That’s 51 strikeouts and six walks in 47.2 innings pitched. With just under 200 batters faced, we’re talking about a 25.6% strikeout rate and 3.0% walk rate. Had Hendricks kept this over the entire season, his strikeout rate would rank among the top 18 and his walk rate would be the best in baseball. Put another way, that 8.5 K/BB ratio would be the best in all of MLB.
Hopefully, he keep it up tonight and the Cubs kick this very long stretch off on a positive note. Jordan Zimmerman is starting for the Tigers, Tommy La Stella is the designated hitter, Addison Russell has been scratched, and Daniel Murphy is … not in the house yet.
Go Cubs!
