This is incredible, folks. Although you may have believed it impossible based on the last 50(!!!) innings of data, there is no rule in the books that prohibits the 2018 Chicago Cubs from scoring runs with runners on base.
After five straight games hitting only one solo homer in each game, David Bote finally broke the curse … by hitting another home run … WITH A RUNNER ON BASE:

What a horrible pitch. But you still have to hit it when the pitcher makes a mistake, and Bote didn’t miss.
It was especially nice to see the power from Bote, who’d headed into a deep slump after his walk-off grand slam as the league adjusted to him a bit. This is all part of the process.
