Cubs Roster Move: Alec Mills Officially “Up,” Dillion Maples Right Back to Iowa
With Alec Mills needing a spot on the roster to make his start today, and with Dillon Maples having come up just yesterday, this is expected:

Dillion Maples didn’t get a chance to pitch last night, because COLE HAMELS IS AMAZING, and now he’ll head back to Triple-A Iowa to make room for today’s starter, Alec Mills. Here’s what Brett had to say about Mills yesterday, when this move was forecasted:
Mills, 26, has an ERA near five this year at Iowa, but much better peripherals. He hasn’t emerged as a serious contender for the 2019 rotation or even necessarily bullpen, but as a guy to fill in for a start? He’s fine.
Fine, indeed.
There’s rain in the Wrigleyville area and Phil Rogers reported that the tarp was on the field about an hour ago, but I think it’s supposed to clear up by then. And if/when it does, we could get Mills versus Matt Harvey … or whomever the Reds chose to fill in after dealing him to the Brewers. We shall see.
