It’s become a new tradition – one we never thought we’d see, much less see several dang times over the past few years.
A baserunner gets comfortable. He gets aggressive. He gets cute. And then he gets too comfortable out there with Jon Lester on the mound. Sometimes it means that Willson Contreras is going to poach you, and sometimes it means that Big Jon Lester is gonna surprise you by taking matters into his own hands:
.@JLester34 and perfect throws to first.
Name a better duo. pic.twitter.com/pyAsqoNIBv

How about that? That was a perfect throw! And since we know that Lester has always been *physically* capable of making that throw, I figure the more he successfully does it – especially perfectly like that – the better he’ll get at it. Sure seems like that’s been the case over the past year and a half.
This one remains the GOAT, though:
Remember that time Tim McCarver said there was no way Jon Lester was going to throw over to first, and Tommy Pham believed it? pic.twitter.com/v2vWbLhrps
